Record · your classes

Press record.chalk writes it up.

Record a class, on your Mac or in the browser. chalk gets the words right — your names, the class’s own terms — then works it up: notes built on yours, the questions to ask, and flashcards, a quiz or a board whenever you want one.

The words, made right

Your names. The class’s terms. Spelled right.

chalk is primed with your own vocabulary and reads a lecture against its class’s slides — so “pirouette” comes out as pyruvate, and every change is shown, never hidden.

Primed with your words

The names and jargon you’ve taught chalk go into every transcription, in every recording.

Checked against the slides

Record a class against its course, and the terms on its slides set the spelling.

Kept, and not

Silence is never sent. Audio is never kept.

chalk sends only the stretches where someone is speaking, and what comes back is words. The sound itself isn’t stored anywhere — what you keep is the transcript.

Work it up

Your notes are the spine.

Type a few words while it listens. When you stop, chalk works it up: each note you made, answered from what was said — then what was covered and when, the questions, and who owes what.

Your notes, filled in

Each line you typed comes back answered, with the moment it was said — press the time to find the words.

What was covered, and when

The recording rebuilt by topic, with times — key points, and the questions worth asking next.

Actions and questions

Who owes what and by when, and the questions raised — the open ones marked open.

Then make anything from it

A report, slides, a study set — in any language.

Once it’s worked up, each is one click: made from what was actually said, opened right beside the notes, and kept with the recording.

Keep it with its class

The lecture, matched to its lesson.

Link a recording to its course and class, and it becomes that class’s lecture notes — read against the class’s own slides, so you can see what the lecture covered, added and skipped.

Before or after

Pick the course and class when you press Record, or add a recording to one afterwards.

It joins the class

Its notes become the class’s Lecture page, beside the lesson, the notes and the cheat sheet.

Read against the slides

What was taught from them, said beyond them and skipped — each with the slide it’s on.
